Welding fume extraction for practical classroom ROC Friese Poort
Welding fume extraction in the practical classroom of ROC Friese Poort in Drachten not only ensures clean air, but above all protects the students in the welding booth. Nobody wants to expose them to welding fumes. Moreover, it is a legal obligation for the employer to ensure a safe working environment.
The training institute offers various welding courses from novice to all-round welder. A new practical classroom was recently installed. Meconaf was asked to take care of the extraction of welding fumes. This included installing an extraction unit and welding boxes with extraction arms and a grinding booth equipped with a grinding table.
Total solution for practical classroom
Welding produces a multitude of gases, fumes and dust. These can enter the lungs with the inhaled air, thus endangering health. Adequate safety measures, such as welding fume extraction in the form of spot extraction (source extraction) and room extraction, are therefore taken during all welding processes.
Meconaf has extensive experience in equipping practical classrooms in schools. As the specialist in clean air, we offer a total solution. Together with the customer, we design an extraction system that perfectly matches the needs. We then manufacture the filter units in-house. As for the welding arms on the workstations, they are manufactured by Aer Service Equipments in Italy. Meconaf is importer of the Aer Service range for the Netherlands and Belgium.
SMOP metal industry filter unit
The SMOP4-80 filter unit was chosen for this project. It is equipped with compressed air cleaning for the filter cartridges which ensures proper cleaning during operation and post-cleaning once the installation stops. We collect the waste in a collection bin on wheels which can be easily removed by means of a hanging closure system.
