Extraction with three cyclone filters installed in America

In corona time, Meconaf “installed” a complete extraction system with three cyclone filters on an onion sorting plant at a client’s facility in America.

Partner John Rietveld of Rietveld Equipment, in fact, created an opportunity to still be able to install the extraction system on a complete new sorting line during the pandemic on schedule. Rietveld’s unique solution did not go unnoticed in America. Potato Grower Magazine devoted a complete article to it.

The solution

The moment COVID-19 made “business as usual” impossible, Rietveld had to be the first to address his installation crew’s health concerns. Traveling safely to clients, working on site and staying there was solved by purchasing a large motor home. In this way, he created a bubble for his own people. Fortunately for Meconaf, the Rietveld installers were still trained and certified in Europe before the outbreak.

Extraction and filter cyclones as a kit

All parts for the extraction system and cyclones were manufactured at Meconaf in Franeker. These were then shipped as kits in three full containers to America. Then transported over land to the customer in Washington state. After which the installation was assembled on site.

So thanks to John Rietveld and his installation team, a Meconaf extraction system is now running in America. The three cyclone, compressed-air cleaned filters take care of extracting dust and skins when processing onions. And with that, Meconaf has created a safe and healthy working environment for an onion processor in the U.S.
